How to choose a groomer
If you own a long haired dog, regular grooming by a professional groomer is the key to keep it’s coat free of tangles. Even short haired dogs need a shampoo occasionally. Or maybe their nails need a trim if they don't wear down naturally.
The best way to find a good groomer is ask people when out walking, they will happily recommend their groomer and tell you who to avoid as well.
Some groomers only work on specific breeds i.e toy or small breeds. Make sure your groomer has experience of grooming your breed of dog.
As the groomer will be alone with your dog, it’s important they can handle dogs well without being too rough. Ask to see them working with another dog if you wish, to put your mind at ease. Bear in mind that most groomers prefer you not to be present while they groom your dog as he will tend to misbehave if you are.
If your dog has had a bad grooming experience or tends to be nervous or aggressive in certain situations, make sure the groomer is aware and can handle any problems.
Finally make sure you are clear about how you want your dog clipped etc.
